Sidemount

Definition

Sidemount is a scuba configuration in which tanks are mounted along the diver’s sides rather than on the back.

More on Sidemount

Originally developed for cave and technical diving, sidemount configurations offer increased flexibility, better streamlining, and easier tank management. Divers carry one or two cylinders clipped to the side of their harness. Sidemount improves trim and makes gear easier to handle both above and below the water. It's popular among divers with back issues or those exploring confined environments. Specialized training is required to configure and manage the setup correctly.
